Virginia Vale, who acquired the stage-name after winning the 1939 “Gateway to Hollywood” radio contest, rides a bike on the RKO Radio Pictures lot. Born Dorothy Howe– and credited as such in The Big Broadcast of 1938 and a few other Paramount pics– Vale became known for a string of RKO B-westerns and for playing a race car driver in 1941’s Blonde Comet.
Per this publicity photo’s snipe, Vale is wearing a white wool slip-on sweater with navy blue shorts. Photo: Fred Hendrickson.
