Robert Ryan, a steady star of film noirs and westerns in the Forties, Fifties and Sixties, cycles around the RKO lot. It’s 1946 and Ryan (who’d be nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for his work in the following year’s crime drama Crossfire) was enjoying a string of successes at the studio, including Bombardier, The Sky’s the Limit and Tender Comrade.
