Ray Bolger, once the Scarecrow in the land of Oz and now about to star in the NBC musical comedy series Washington Square, gives actress and co-star Elaine Stritch a ride on the handlebars. The show aired just one season, debuting in October, 1956. Bolger played a New York talent agent and Stritch his pal, and the owner of the Village Inn, where aspiring actors performed. The couple are aptly cycling around Greenwich Village’s landmark park, Washington Square.
