Olivia de Havilland is perched atop a Colson cruiser, modeling a nifty cycling getup (“a clever two-piece outfit… of plum-colored cotton challis with a double chalk stripe”), in this 1939 Warner Bros publicity photo. The actress, starring opposite Errol Flynn in the studio’s western, Dodge City, isn’t really riding at this instant — note the rear-wheel kick stand– but de Havilland was an avid cyclist throughout her career, and after retirement, too, when she could be seen bicycling around her Paris neighborhood.
