Kirk Douglas shares a bike with a Villefranche-sur-Mer native, borrowing his violin, too. It’s 1953, and Douglas is in the south of France starring in United Artist’s Anatole Litvak-directed romance, Act of Love.
Here’s the snipe: “The man in the striped ‘T’ shirt actually bicycles around Villefranche while playing a violin and wearing a tattered derby hat. Film director Anatole Litvak put him in his ‘ACT OF LOVE,’ which stars Kirk Douglas shown here being ‘chauffered’ around the location area while trying a tune himself.”
