Jimmy Durante, the comic thespian, nicknamed “The Schnoz” or “The Great Schnozzola” for his prodigious proboscis, wheels into a room accompanied by his wife, Jeanne. It’s 1933 and Durante, back in hometown New York after starring in a series of Hollywood talkies, is returning to the stage.
