Jerry Mathers, age 13, riding his Schwinn, a little more than midway through his 234-episode run as Theodore “The Beaver” Cleaver  on ABC’s beloved family sitcom, Leave It to Beaver.  The year was 1961, and the caption on the Associated Press photo reads: “Jerry Mathers longs to be 16 so he can drive a car.”
