Evalyn Knapp and Earl Blackwell get ready for some serious cycling in this 1935 Associated Press photo shot in Palm Springs. Knapp, a top B-movie actress in the 1930s, had four films out the year she was photographed on her Columbia tank cruiser bike, including Ladies Crave Excitement. Although he started off as an actor, Blackwell moved to New York, wrote a musical that had a brief Broadway run and then founded Celebrity Service, which tracked the lives and careers of show biz notables.
