Arline Judge takes a tumble, or so it seems, in this 1932 RKO Radio Pictures publicity shot. Judge, a busy B-movie star in the ’30s and ’40s, played the manicurist in the Preston Sturges/Harold Lloyd bomb, The Sin of Harold Diddlebock, but she’s perhaps best known for her off-camera prolificness: According to Wikipedia, she was married and divorced seven times; according to IMDB, the number was eight. Husbands included director Wesley Ruggles and New York Yankees president/co-owner Dan Topping.
Here’s the snipe on the back of the photo: “My kingdom for a pillow!” shouts Arline Judge as her bicycle skids on the cement. Arline is working on Roar of the Dragon with Richard Dix and Gwili Andre.”
