Andy Clyde, the comic actor who began his career in Mack Sennett silents, takes a tumble into a picket fence in a still from the 1941 Columbia comedy The Watchman Takes a Wife. Clyde is pedaling his way to a wedding — his wedding, in fact — when the slapstick crash occurs. Clyde, whose film career spanned 45-plus years, is best known for his sidekick role as California Carlson in the Hopalong Cassidy pictures.
